An outside ear for what comes next
You know the music. But after hearing it over and over, it’s hard to know what to work on next. I’ll help you hear what’s coming through and where to focus.
I’ve led ensembles selected for MEA state conferences and regional and national ACDA conferences. I understand the care behind a recording that represents your work.
Hear what a discerning listener notices in your technique, musical choices, and communication while there’s still time to refine them.
An outside ear on your choir’s blend, balance, and phrasing before the selection committee hears it.
Bring a rehearsal recording and find the details worth shaping before the performance.
No event needed. Ask about tone, breath, diction, or consistency, and leave with priorities for your next practice.
Choose 3–5 business days, 1–2 business days, or within 24 hours. The same thoughtful feedback, on the timeline you need.
A conversation with your recording
My feedback follows the moments in your music. I pause, replay a phrase, and point out details you may not have noticed—so you can hear exactly what I’m responding to and what to try next.
Upload a singing recording up to five minutes. Tell me what you’re working toward, and add a score if you have one.
Your recorded review includes your performance and my spoken commentary. Hear the phrase, the detail I notice, and the suggestion in context.
I continue with additional feedback afterward and clear priorities to take back to the music. You receive at least ten minutes of audio feedback through a private listening link by email.

Where do we go next?
I’ve spent 17 years teaching voice and have worked with students from elementary school through college. I know that useful feedback starts with understanding the singer in front of you.
As a choir director, voice teacher, and guest conductor, I work with individual voices and whole ensembles. The aim is the same: thoughtful, specific feedback you can bring into your next practice or rehearsal.

Send a recordingA phone is enough. Record in a quiet room with the phone a few feet away (farther for a choir), and sing at full voice. Leave out effects and heavy reverb so I hear your real sound. MP3, M4A, WAV and most other audio files work, up to five minutes and 30 MB.
Both. I’ve taught voice for 17 years, from elementary school through college, and I work with soloists, small ensembles and full choirs. Tell me where you are and what you’re working toward, and I’ll start from there.
A recorded review of at least ten minutes: your singing with my commentary as it plays, then more feedback and clear priorities afterward. It arrives as a private listening link by email, so you can come back to it whenever you practise.
Yes. A parent, guardian or teacher can order with their own email address and upload the student’s recording, with the singer’s permission. The private listening link comes to you to share with them. Teachers can also buy a pack of 3 Standard reviews for $65 and give a code to each singer.
Yes. Buy a gift code for any review on the gifts page and you’ll see it right away, ready to print or forward, and get it by email. The singer uploads a recording whenever they’re ready and pays nothing more. Codes don’t expire, and an unused code can be refunded.
Yes. For a choir or ensemble I listen for blend, balance, phrasing and the overall musical impression, the way a festival or conference committee would. Standard, Priority and Express each cover one recording up to five minutes. For a longer set, such as a conference submission, the Conference review ($90) takes one recording up to 12 minutes, with at least 20 minutes of feedback in 5–7 business days.
Choose Standard (3–5 business days, $25), Priority (1–2 business days, $40), Express (within 24 hours or $50). Timing starts after payment. Business days are Monday to Friday; Express includes weekends.
It’s optional, but it helps, especially for choral pieces or when you want feedback on accuracy. Add PDFs or photos of the pages with your recording.
Contact me before I start on your feedback and you get a full refund. After I’ve started, get in touch about any problem and I’ll look at it with you individually.
Only me. Uploads are never listed publicly, Stripe handles payment, and you can ask me to delete your recordings at any time by writing to secondearvoice@gmail.com from the address you ordered with.
